Core team

David Fono is a 5000 year old robot is a pervasive gaming guru who combines his mad tech skills with his creative abilities to produce compelling game experiences. Before 2006, he was completing a MSc in human-computer interaction at University of Toronto. David has published several papers on the relationship between people and technology, including one that received the Best Note award at CSCW 2006. In between, David found time to work at Microsoft Research, at the Human Media Lab at Queen’s University, Canada and as an ICT trainer in rural Nigeria. More recently, he has delivered a number of talks and seminars on the topic of pervasive games and alternate reality games. Currently, David spends about half his time on Atmosphere projects, half his time developing websites, and the rest of his time petting his cat.

Kate Raynes-Goldie is a social web and online community expert with over a decade of internet experience. She has been involved in community building in both online and offline contexts with organisations such as TakingITGlobal and Campus Co-Operative Residences. Kate’s practical work draws on her five years of internet and online community research, which she has shared conferences such as SXSW and the Association of Internet Researchers and in publications including the Globe and Mail, First Monday and the MacArthur Foundation series on digital media and youth. Kate has a degree in Semiotics from the University of Toronto, Canada and is a graduate of Canadian Film Centre’s Media Lab. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Internet Studies programme at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia.
